The Dead Weather Sea of Cowards
Jack White's side project turned into a real band of their own on this second release. Blues, traditional rock, a little bit of funk, and the kind of rock that Jack White makes come together in this album. I think its one of the rare cases when a second album eclipses the first one. I think that this one is a keeper.
The National High Violet
Dark and deep songs. I really like what this band does. You're not going to hear too many radio-friendly songs on any of their albums, but they make very nice albums.
Some other new stuff that I missed:
Blur Fool's Day single (free on Blur's UK site) for record store day (4/17/10)
Sleigh Bells Treats
This sounds like some sort of indie rock high school pep rally. They make a lot of noise, and the music is fun, but it's repetitive and gets old fast. This is probably the most interesting of the new releases, so I decided to play it.

Elvis 75
Sony celebrates the King’s birthday the only way they know how: by reissueing his music and putting it out there for us to buy.
The Flaming Lips Dark Side of the Moon
The Lips cover the entire album and ride it like it’s stolen. I never liked Pink Floyd, but this is a good fit. Both are well suited for lazer light shows and planetariums.
The Green Day Collection on itunes
Every song, and you can buy it all for $100 or pick your songs for $1.29 each. I love this idea.

Vampire Weekend - Contra - 2 stars
Great second album. Really good job, but not sure about staying power.

Spoon Transference
Spoon breaks down the production levels with the new album, and it works great. I have listened to it a few times enough to say that it’s a solid 3 star album.
Aziz Ansari Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening
This guy cracks me up. He’s an Indian American guy, and he grew up in the South - Columbia, South Carolina. You may know him from Parks and Recreation where he plays Tom Haverford or Flight of the Conchords, where he played a guy that was racist against Australians and mistakenly took Brett and Germaine for Australians instead of Kiwis. I thought the comedy cd was funny, and I recommend it here’s a little taste.
Hope for Haiti Now
Send more money to Haiti by buying this album. I don’t know what else to say. You can give money and get some music out of it that you probably won’t be too psyched for…or you can just donate the money and pass on these tracks that will just sit on your hard drive collecting dust.
Beach House Teen Dream
Baltimore’s favorite indie band, Beach House, just released an album that’s getting a lot of positive press. The super snobby alternative music reviewers from Pitchfork gave it a rating of 9.0! That’s high praise, indeed. I listened to a few tracks, and I can see why they liked it. It’s really good if you like the type of music that Beach House offer. If you like this song, you should get the same warm fuzzy from the rest of the album. I know that I did I gave it 3 stars.
